I cannot claim I always wanted to be an architect, but I always enjoyed drawing, sketching, and eventually painting and building. Growing up on the west coast, I never envisioned making Atlanta my home. However, I grew to love the south after coming to Georgia Tech to study architecture and getting both my Bachelors and Masters with a few years off in between to travel and work. I found while in school, I was very much interested in the relationship between public health and design. I realized we as designers have a lot of influence on the built environment and can affect the way in which people live. This truly puts a lot of responsibility upon our profession as we seek to provide settings which encourage things like social interaction, physical movement and a sense of place.
Upon receiving my graduate degree, I worked at two different firms before settling down at Dwell Design studio. I had done some commercial high rise work, healthcare work – both hospital, clinic, assisted living, and hospice care, and now I am excited to be immersed in the multi-family, retail and mixed used market sectors.
At home, I am balanced by my beautiful wife Anna and our son Ben. We enjoy entertaining guests, going to the park, and travelling.
