This home offered a truly unique opportunity. Located on a mountainside lot near Breckenridge, Colorado that offered amazing views of the mountain range beyond, the placement of the house on the lot was paramount to the success of the design. The orientation of house was also very important due to the fact that the view to the mountain range was toward the front of the lot. The solution was to place the house at the highest point of the lot, orientating the house in reverse, with the front entry towards the rear of the lot, putting the living spaces of the house towards the view. The home is accessed via a long, curving driveway that provides fleeting glimpses of the house, landing at a parking court at the front entry. Guests are briefly cheated of their view of the mountains until they enter the home, where the view opens up towards to rear of the house, offering spectacular views of the Colorado Mountains.
